3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Tour
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison falls park, stop-over at Ziwa Sanctuary

On this day, your driver/guide will set off early morning at 6:00 am from Kampala to Murchison falls national park via Hoima road. En-route we will stop-over in Nakasongola to visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you will see the Rhinos and the breeding was started recently to help re-introduce these animals back in to the wild. After the Rhino tracking, the journey continues to Murchison passing through Masindi town with a stop-over for Lunch. Towards Murchison at Paraa, you will take a ferry to get to the other side where you will check in to your safari lodge for the night. Dinner will be served and you can wind down your evening with views of the sunsets.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

At 3480 sq km, Murchison falls national park has abundant of wildlife with over 76 species of mammals and 451 birds recorded. The second day starts with an early morning game drive in the game tracks to see some of these animals. Popular ones seen here include Lions, Hyenas, Elephants, Hartebeest, Giraffes, and many more. After the game drive, you’ll take a break at your safari lodge before tasting some of the finest cuisines for lunch. In the afternoon, get ready to take an exciting boat trip on the Victoria Nile to the base of the Murchison falls. The boat trip offers excellent views on the wildlife like Crocodiles, elephants etc. along the river banks plus a number of birds. Common birds seen include Blue-headed Coucal , Sandpipers, Denham’s Bustard, Abyssinian Ground-Hornbill, Black-billed Barbet, Swamp Flycatcher, Squacco Heron, African Jacana, Black-headed Gonolek and many more. After the boat trip, your driver will return you to the safari lodge.

Day 3: Murchison falls back to Kampala.
After an exciting adventure in Murchison, you will be transferred back to Kampala. You will have amazing views of Uganda on your way back with several stop-overs and much more. If returning back to the airport, a free drop off will be provided on the itinerary cost.

Getting There
To get to Murchison Falls National Park from Kampala, you will typically travel by road. Here’s how you can reach the park:
By Car: The most common way to travel from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park is by car. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. You can hire a private car with a driver/guide or join a guided tour.
Route: From Kampala, you will head north on the Hoima Road towards Masindi. Along the way, you’ll pass through Nakasongola, where you can make a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. Afterward, continue on the road towards Masindi, where you’ll have a lunch stop. From Masindi, the journey continues to Murchison Falls National Park.
Ferry Crossing: At Paraa, the main entry point to Murchison Falls National Park, you’ll need to take a ferry across the Victoria Nile to reach the other side of the park. The ferry operates at scheduled times throughout the day, so it’s essential to plan your arrival accordingly.
Accommodation: Once you’ve crossed the ferry, you’ll check into your chosen accommodation within the park. Paraa Safari Lodge is a popular choice for overnight stays, offering comfortable accommodations and stunning views of the park.
Return Journey: After your safari experience in Murchison Falls National Park, you’ll travel back to Kampala. The return journey will follow the same route, with opportunities for stopovers along the way to enjoy the scenery and stretch your legs. If you’re returning to the airport, your tour operator may provide a free drop-off as part of the itinerary.
